Our client is a global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company. Company is also a leading provider of contract manufacturing services to proprietary pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies for formulation development, filling and finishing of injectable pharmaceuticals. The environment is casual with a strong desire to be successful. Beautiful location North of Denver. 2 positions. Junior and Senior level.
Experience/ Education: Minimum B.S. in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering or a related technical field. 2 -5 years of relevant Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech Manufacturing experience. 7+ years for the more Sr level position. Experience in API Manufacturing a strong plus but will consider batch fine/specialty chemicals Must have hands on day to day operations experience. Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets; technical writing ability. Will need strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities: The overall purpose of the Production Engineer is to ensure the API production processes are reliable in all aspects and to continually improve the processes in a GMP facility. This is accomplished through technology transfer of new and modified processes, troubleshooting operational issues, identifying and implementing process robustness activities, and identifying and implementing process improvements. He or she supports operations by developing improvements and optimizing existing pharmaceutical processes, and by resolving severe manufacturing problems affecting product quality, personnel safety, environmental compliance, or equipment operability. The Production Engineer may be required to participate on project and engineering teams for new or improved pharmaceutical processes including process scale-up, equipment design, mechanical installation, initial start up and demonstration, and process validation. Maximize process efficiency/economics and monitor with appropriate metrics. Improve process robustness, reduce production costs (yields, cycle times, material reduction, waste reduction). This requires detailed technical and logistical knowledge of production processes. Understand the processes, equipment, and chemistries in order to successfully troubleshoot both technical and chemistry issues. Assist in equipment repair and/or replacement. Investigate and resolve process deviations, excursions, and atypical events. Receive technical transfers of new and/or developed processes from Process or API Development (equipment, chemistry, cleaning, etc.). Improve Production controlled aspects of the Technical Transfer process. Responsibilities include: training of Manufacturing personnel; helping to ensure equipment and utility suitability for use; creation of batch documentation; monitoring batches including metrics to ensure process reproducibility, targets achieved, validation requirements achieved, and other tasks necessary to achieve routine, sustainable manufacturing operations. Work with other departments and/or contractors in giving input into the design of new equipment and/or processing suites to address potential problems or existing facility constraints in engineering designs prior to implementation. Support on-call Manufacturing coverage for 24/7 - 4 shift operation.
