Responsibilities EXPERIENCE: Chemical Engineer with ideally 10-15, but may look at 7 years. Must be from the Chemical Process Industry, will consider refinery people as well. The ideal person will have both process engineering and process control experience. They want someone who could at a minimum do Programming and Ladder Logic development of PLC`s, A big plus would be if someone had DCS doing system configuration, theory and application.

DUTIES: This person will work in the process and project group and will be their process control group dedicated to solely doing controls work. What this person will be doing is implementing controls to the projects that are being done throughout that is 400+ person plant. They utilize both PLC and DCS at this plant. Troubleshoot existing PLC or DCS control systems when problems arise beyond the capability of the E&I maintenance department. Provide training to the maintenance department for those items and new programming and software related to PLC and HMI equipment. Participate in project teams where the Controls Engineer expertise is required. Requirements include: Review of PLC and DCS systems and related software and hardware, provide in-house programming or programming review of outsourced programs, safety interlock review and testing requirements, instrument loop checks and documentation required for PSSR documentation relating to control and instrumentation type projects, drawing review of electrical wiring schematics including electrical loop drawings for projects.
Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested related to process control or E&I issues including support through participation on applicable production, safety, and engineering team WG meetings to assist in resolving E&I issues. Also provide support to production for control issues not seen or needing extra attention after project development time, these are typically considered tuning issues related to how well a control system performs. Assist in developing standards and procedures related to process control for software, hardware including software back-ups of new and existing control systems and their interfaces. This includes procedures for changes and archiving of existing or new programming and coordinating between in-house and outsourced workloads to ensure existing system integrity. Also procedures or programming examples and assisting engineering/drafting in maintaining up to date P&ID standards.
